If you’re a collector or enjoy experiencing the full cycle of life, pop over for this workshop to get down to the nitty-gritty of seed saving.

Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler and craftsmanship was treasured.

Here, master gardener Gundula Deutschländer will provide an overview of the marvellous mechanics of seeds and how best to cultivate them. We will be discussing ripeness, sifting, sorting and storing of these precious seeds of hope, and share tips on how to sow once the time is right. Gundula will guide you into the Soetmelksvlei heritage garden to collect various seeds. We invite you to bring whatever viable seeds you might have to this communal seed-swopping circle.

After a hands-on morning in the farm air, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch at the Old Stables Restaurant before heading back to Babylonstoren.
