Join master baker Martjie Malan in the heritage kitchen of Soetmelksvlei to learn how to bake festive breads that will gather friends and family around the table.
Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler, and craftsmanship was treasured. Here, Martjie will guide you through the steps of kneading and allowing the dough to rise. Herbs are added, and the dough is cut and twisted into shapes for easy pull-apart loaves – all inspired by the seasonal abundance from the garden.
After a hands-on morning in the farm air, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch at the Old Stables Restaurant before heading back to Babylonstoren.
